50 amp to 30 amp reducer cord

How much use will a 50 amp to 30 amp reducer cord get ?? I can get a new one right now from camping world for $16. But how often are these actually used ??

if you use it just once it has already paid for itself IMO

I was at a camp site that the 30 amp breaker kept popping on the pole so had to use the 50 to 30 and never had a problem with the pole after that while I was there.

Do your self a favor and buy it and never look back

If you need it and don't have it you are screwed. Hard to find at campgrounds that you might need it, since they are typically "hot items" and are sold out.

Exactly. I also carry a 30 to 15 just in case. First time I use one, it has paid for itself.

FYI, I carry a 50 to 30 reducer and also a 30 to 15 reducer in which I have one of those multi-LED power correctness indicators.

First thing at a CG with 30A service is to plug the 30A connector in with the correctness incdicator. If all the lights come on to indicate it's OK, we're good to plug in.

At a 50A only campsite, I plug in my 50-to-30 adapter then plug in the 30-to-15 with the LED telltales. Only if they say OK do I then plug in my rig's 30A power cord through the 50-to-30 adapter.

In a season and a half, we've found a few prioblems, which the CG owners were relieved to find and soon fixed. We haven't had an electrical problem with any site pedestals this yesr, but it doesn't hurt to be very careful.

I am using one now. The 30 amp receptical is worn out and the plug won't stay snug. Went to my 50 to 30. I'm comfortable with this configuration.

Frank and Eileen, that LED doohickey is a good idea. Thanks for the tip.
I was on a trip recently with some friends and half of their RV would not "energize". No blown fuses, no popped circuits. After an hour and a half, we gave up searching. I got to thinking about it and suggested that maybe their 50 amp pedestal didn't have both "legs" hot. They moved to another site and bingo. Everything worked fine. If we had used your technique, we could have saved some time and some worry.

The tester is a very good tip

I use a circuit tester also prior to plugging in my cord - so far havent had any issues.

you can get a cheap tester or one of the expensive one's they work about the same - the cheap one's usually have LED that light up across telling you the power and the expensive one's have a LCD screen that tells you the exact voltage the pole is putting out.

I also turn the breaker off before putting my plugs in just to keep it safe and less chance of shorting out the prongs on the cord

If your ordering you should have gotten a 25 foot
extra cord!
We got one with our new camper in 06 and use it plenty.
sometimes when we camp with friends on pull through sites we need extra cord to reach outlet pole since our camper is backwards in order to face our friends.

I carry one, but have never used it. Maybe one day I'll need it.
