50 amp vs 30 amp?

I tell the inverter to use 14 amps from the shore power. Any more draw, and the inverter will pull from the batteries.

I did some testing the other day.
Ran the front ac right off the batteries. Attachment 117741

After an hour, the batteries were still at 85% SOC.

Wow! I must be missing something! Just how much battery capacity do you have? 85% after an hour is incredible even if the AC cycled on and off for the whole hour!

Going to shift gears here: what happens if you plug a 30a camper into a 50a outlet using an adapter? It seems like overkill, your camper can only use 30a and will trip the main onboard breaker if anything tries to draw more than that. But can it damage your camper's wiring?

NO. Would cause no damage. This is not a problem. The camper will draw only what it needs. You are still protected as before with the 30 amp breaker in your camper.

Plugging a 30 amp camper into a 50 amp pedestal is no different than plugging your 3/4 amp phone charger into a 15 amp receptacle (which is often on a 20 amp circuit)... absolutely nothing.

Your camper only draws what it needs. The 50 amps aren't "forced" into your camper. In addition, you still have a 30 amp breaker in the camper.
