6 months to memorial day?

Michigan state parks only allow you to make a reservation 6 months in advance. Just realized that today is 6 months from memorial day. While my camper is sleeping under a blanket of snow, I just made my first reservation for next year.

Yep, sometimes ya gotta think outside the box er calendar!
We enjoy a little park in FL that has a 6 month reservation window.
In order to get in there we actually stayed up and made our reservation at midnight plus 1 minute on the exact day the "window opened".
Some of the places we visit have a 12 month window and those can also fill up within minutes on "the day".
It can be hard to "get in the mood" for making summer reservations when you're putting up Christmas lights and scraping frost off your windshield!

SHHHHHHHH!! Don't let the secret out!!
I managed to get 5 days there in early Feb!!! The locals get a 7 month window so they grab the weekends but I don't care. I'll gladly take Sun thru Thursday.

Every one of the full service sites for the Memorial Day weekend at West Branch, our favorite Ohio state park, has been booked as have over half of the available sites. 80% of the total sites are electric only. "Our" electrical only site, the one we booked for about 10 consecutive Memorial Day weekends, is available but since we've moved from Cleveland to Richmond the convenience is no longer there.

Hard to schedule six months out other than holiday weekends.

Being we retired we book a year in advanced when we can. already have reservations for next June and Sept. Earlier you can do them better chances of getting a site. Also we don't have to worry about Holiday week ends we go during the week Sunday to Thur. Later RJD

Yes, we also try to go "in week" and leave the holidays and weekends to those still gainfully employed!

It's hard to do that when you're gone a month tho....

Getting older sucks for memory issues.....

Always remember to book prime time for camping, and book NON-prime time for doctor appointments,......and don’t get the two mixed up.

I'm in Illinois and mainly camp in Wisconsin. The window is 11 months. Already scheduled to through September. Just completed last month. Surprisingly, many if our favorite campgrounds are already full.

1/2 Sale on SC State Park campsites.

Hope some of you took advantage of South Carolina's Black Friday at some of it's state parks. I reserved 13 days at 3 different parks. remember for next year. Should have sent a note yesterday. Too busy picking out campgrounds.

6 months to memorial day?

And I've made my Memorial Day reservations for the third year in a row at The Nugget RV Park and Resort in St. Regis, MT. Ive made a lot of RV friends that are repeaters at that park and we often meet up there at different times in the summer. It's the only 10 10 10 Good Sam park in MT. Now I'm debating on whether or not to winter again in AZ. Winter is closing in fast so I better make up my mind soon.

I have the most fun camping without reservations and have decided that there are no "seasons" for me anymore. I'm hanging out around home right now so I can celebrate the holidays with the kids and grand kids. Come January 1 I'm hitting the road again with no reservations. Might have to hole up for a day or two if I run into snow on the higher points of I-5 but plan on spending much of January South of the 40th Parallel. Got to come back in Feb for my Son's wedding but back out after that.

Haven't figured out why I haven't sold the house yet but as long as it's value is going up as much as it has the last 5 years it's a better investment than the money I have in the bank.

6 months to...

Good grief!!

Do the parks down south (or eastern Canada for that matter) hold any spots for those without reservations? As a fairly recent retiree, I would like to do some travelling through the US with my little 5 in tow. But all this talk that you are already reserving 6 months or even a year down the road, has me concerned. We wouldn’t be ‘snow birds’ but camping through some of the northern states in August or September. Tentative plan is to work our way east through Canada and come back through the Northern US.

Weekends can be rough. Some parks have un-reservable walkup sites - first come first served. Get there on a Wednesday or Thursday and stay the weekend. Weekdays Sunday-Thursdays often have openings. Watch the related reservation system to see what is happening...

We tend to avoid the big holiday weeks/weekends. Leaving them to families with more restricted opportunities...

My question - how many days until:
1. FROG International Rally
2. Website opens to reserve spots for #1.

Some parks will fill up way in advance but not all. We traveled 7500 miles in June and July -Prime Time! and many of our reservations were not far in advance. We typically checked RV parky app and also used a Good Sam big book and just sat in the morning and made calls around our next 2 or 3 planned destinations. In every case we were able to find something. One of our very favorite stops on the Oregon coast was a state park that does not take reservations. We drove in there with our fingers crossed and they had sites. It did fill up on the weekend but even then folks who got there early got in.
The hardest was trying to get in somewhere for July 4th week. Since the holiday fell on a Wednesday people and camp grounds were considering both weekends part of the holiday and rates went up and open spots were very scarce.
You can do it but it's takes some practice and persistence.

If you want to stay at Ocean Lakes campground in Myrtle Beach SC for Memorial Day you better be making reservations now or you could be too late already.

Just made a reservation for August in Spa Belgium, doing a two week rental in western Europe, starting at the Formula 1 race in Spa.
