6 week old 2013 sun seeker in shop for the third week!!!!

We bought a 2013 Forest River Sunseeker 6 weeks ago on October 1. One of our slides stopped extending completely on October 20 while we were out on a trip. This slide not moving kept the bed from moving away from the cabinets containing all of our clothes!!!! We had to remove the mattress whenever any of the 5 members of our family wanted to get shoes, clothes, or coats!!!!! We continued to travel with this problem, but it was annoying. We finally came off the road for a 10 day period and took it to be serviced on November 5. A gear is broken in the slide. It is covered by warranty, but the dealership says they can't get Forest River to send them the part. Today is November 20. I spent $120 on a reservation that was booked in advance and not refundable within 5 days of arrival. I was assured I would have my coach back for this trip. Today we called to check in and the dealership is saying the first of December at a guess, but it could be longer. I have made my first payment while it sits in the shop! We have a trip we were planning this weekend. We won't be doing that either. We bought it for tailgating and deer hunting. Both of those seasons are rushing past while it sits in the shop.

I think we made a huge mistake. I am researching lemon laws on motor homes in Mississippi, but I wonder if anyone else has had dealings with Forest River and what they suggest I do. I am sick because we researched and thought we made an educated, wise purchase... Advice is welcome...

I'm sorry to hear about your trouble with your new RV. I don't have any slide outs but I'm under the impression there is a way to open or close the slide manually. It's not a solution to the problem but you might be able to use your RV as intended until it can be repaired.

You might try contacting FR to see why the part would not be sent to the repair shop. With all due respect sometimes it best to remove the middle man.

Great choice for "Living within my means" and camping for one...

I agree. My trailer had a serious problem and two weeks went by without any news.
It's a Coachmen, so I contacted the GM of Viking directly. It took him 15 minutes to reply that it was all handled and they'd ship everything to me in Korea. All I got from his subordinates was since it was now in Korea there was no warranty.
I would love to be a fly on the wall in his office...

I had the same problem with my side out on my 2006 8314ss Rockwood while camping at Pirateland in Mytle Beach the last week of June and the first week in July for two weeks, the side out would not go all the way out even by hand with the crank, but thank goodness it did retract when it was time to leave.

Once I return home and got it to the dealer there was no parts that had to be ordered, what had happen was there is two pieces of all-thread connected with a coupling....., well you guested they came apart and were in a position to where they would not allow the side out extend all the way even by hand. It was put back together and never had that problem again.
