A Bird In Hand

I saw a strand of grass hanging from the front of my Berkshire. I pulled it out & after giving it some thought, I figured I'd better climb up under it. To my surprise there was a bird's nest the size of a basketball sitting on top of my headlight enclosure.

This was particularly amazing since I just got back home from a trip to AC this past Sunday.

Something else to check every so often.

Found a massive house wren next in my pinbox. Luckily there were no eggs and no sign of occupation, so I evicted her. She hasn't returned that I've seen either.

Update: Checked the nest site this morning at 0900 & the nest was back! Cleaned it out again & fashioned a basket to hold mothballs out of some scrap plastic chicken wire. Hung it from a wire bundle.

Hopefully the little bugger won't come back.

Got a trip planned for the weekend so if the mothballs don't work, maybe it'll go somewhere else when the coach is missing for a few days.

Otherwise, the pellet gun will be put to use.
