I have a Martin D-21 that I've owned since 1968. I play at my campsite occasionally. I play with the Tarrant County Folk Music Society once a month, when I can get there. I played one night at a State Park and before I knew it we had a gathering of folks and we had a good time. The next morning the ranger asked me not to play again because someone 4 sites away complained. We quit well before midnight... some people just can't stand to see others have a good time. But I've played at the fire several times since then, and always have a few folks join me.

I play a lot of early Simon and Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot, Dan Fogelberg, John Denver, James Taylor, and the like, including a few written by Bob Dylan. It was interesting to see Kathy's Song mentioned in an earlier post... one of my favorites.

Playing guitar around a campfire again is something I'm looking forward to for sure.

Music is the universal language. After spending years working with elderly nursing home residents I know that it is the one thing everyone recognizes and responds to, even those with other memory issues. Keep on strummin'

You are so right saying that music is a universal language.

My family from Quebec come every year to Maine, and when around a campfire, I strum my guitar playing French and English songs, and everyone is having a wonderful time ( A few drinks always help ).............

KThoms..............Keep on strumming and enjoy every moment of it !

Here I am in 1964 at the mic (52 years ago). I learned guitar by watching the band players
