Well the 2012 RV season has ended for us and our Silverback (a.k.a. Ramblin’ Roadhouse) is in hibernation for the winter. We put 6081 miles on the fifth wheel and along with our home state of MO, we traveled through KS, CO, IL, IN, OH, PA, and NY. I think need to update the map in my signature.
The big highlight of 2012 was trading in the Wildcat for a Silverback. It took us three trips to the dealer before we finally got the deal we were comfortable with.
Goodbye Wildcat, thanks for the memories.
For a shakedown of the new fifth wheel we did a number of local trips to area campgrounds during the spring.
Hello Silverback. At the 370 Lakeside RV park.
Most of the 2012 season was outstanding but there was one negative to the season and that was a campground we stayed at for an overnighter that we weren’t happy with. The campground was the Shady Grove Campground in Siebert CO. It wasn’t the best campground to begin with but then we were put into the only spot left with 50 amp service and it was next to a site with truck hauling a bunkhouse…a real bunkhouse filled with 8 men who were traveling wheat harvesters. I just didn’t feel comfortable with itinerate workers living next to us, even if it was just for one night.
Itinerate workers and a big bunkhouse for neighbors.
It was obvious the town of Seibert, CO had fallen on hard times by the number of closed small businesses.
Our first big trip this year was to Colorado in June. We stayed at the Mountaindale Campground in Colorado Spring, CO for one week and then moved north and spent a week at the Elk Meadow Lodge and RV park in Estes, CO. Here’s a clickable link to our Colorado trip w/pics that I wrote about in the Cedar Creek subforum.
