? about outdoor kitchen "sink"

Just curious but what do you use it for, mine doesn't have a drain hole with no pipe connected to it so what's the purpose for it?

Strange. Mine has a drain, piping, and its own grey water holding tank. Comes in very handy when bbq'ing, working on unit...

Does your sink lift out? I know at the RV show this year I saw a kitchen sink like that that lifted out so you could dump any water. A dumb idea for sure.

Yes it does lift out but my friend said that campgrounds don't let you dump gray water on the ground so I guess I either won't use it or carry it in the rv and dump it. I loved the idea of having a sink close to the grill so I can rinse or wash utensils

I use mine for washing bbq utensils and hand washing. If we have a full hook up I'll dump it down the drain, otherwise dump it behind camp site. It's what tent campers do. It's not like you're dumping a gray tank on the site.

You could cut a hole in it and add a drain hooked to a hose and into a bucket. Wouldn't drain completely, but it would drain 99%.

The reason campgrounds don't let you dump gray water from an RV is because the shower water can contain bacteria from fecal matter and can also carry residual black water from the common dump outlet. Water from that sink wouldn't be in that category and could be discarded the same way tent campers discard theirs.

That's what they say and meanwhile hundreds of wild animals run around and poop all over the campground and that's NOT a problem? It's nature. Silly.

I don’t have any issues with someone dumping a pan of water on the ground but I do have issues with someone dumping 30 to 80 gallons of grey water on the ground. If every camper did that it wouldn’t be long before the campsites would be a mess.

Also, back when my wife and I were tent campers we always used biodegradable soap.

Was there an option you could have bought for another $50 and they'd have hooked it up?

When tent camping the wash pans go on the found some where. Even with the tt the dutch ovens was water gets dumped some where in the bushes or in a fire ring that's not being used

If you don't have an outdoor fridge or you need extra space you could fill it with ice and keep drinks in it.

Dumping on the ground

We stayed at a Forest Service campground in Montana that had hoses set up to drain your gray tank and water the plants. The plants were fenced off because there is a good chance of some fecal matter mixing with your grey water because they both come out of the same pipe. In general, the danger of anyone getting sick from dumping gray water on the ground is infinitesimal (as my physics teacher used to say). Ultraviolet light from the sun will kill most anything. When I worked for the Forest Service we sprayed the liquid from a septic tank on the ground (with permission from the state EPA). Not that big a problem.

I am sure there are some tent campers who do it, but I have never seen tent campers collecting their gray water. Every weekend at the state parks, I see tent campers washing dishes right at the water hook up. I am not condoning it, I am just saying it is a very regular occurrence. My sink is very small, so I wash dishes in plastic tubs outside, (I mostly cook outside). I am just a little more than a tent camper with a little nicer bed.
