Accidental test of 5th wheels Break away brakes

Returning from a camping trip over the weekend, I got the break away cable caught in the slide hitch. I released the hitch on my road so I could make the tight turn into my driveway. The trucks message center said "Trailer Fault". I tried to pull forward and couldn't budge the trailer. I also stopped once I realized something was wrong. I placed the pin back in and everything was fine. I was very impressed how well the system works, and now I have piece of mind the system works. Probably a good idea to test your system to make sure it works.

I almost accidentally tested mine a few days ago. New trailer, new hitch. We relocated the breakaway switch to get it out of the way of the lift brackets...no big deal. Evidently, when I hooked it up, I wasn't careful enough of how I routed the cable. Somehow it got caught up on a moving part of the hitch...still not sure where. I got home to find it sheared in half in the middle.
