Aintgotnun Update
Went to the surgeon yesterday and had some pictures taken. It's been almost 2 weeks since surgery. The doc says it looks good and to come back in a month for another follow up.
I got to look at the pictures and it was pretty neat. I didn’t have near the metal in me that he gave the impression of after surgery. Just 2 small “clips” little strips of metal about a half inch long with a couple of tiny screws in each at the ends. There was one of these clips on each bone (tibia and fibula) just above the ankle. These were the clean breaks. About 4 inches above those breaks, both bones were broken again but did not require any screws or clips. The doc said they fell into place nicely with the repairs of the lower portions. The tibia (the larger bone) looks pretty good at the upper break but the fibula looked pretty funky to me. The surgeon said it looked good so……………. I’ve got another month of crutches (no weight at all) before I can hopefully start putting weight on it and maybe even walking. I’m getting real tired of these dang crutches.
I did swing a new boot though. The one I had was too large. It fit fine after the surgery when my foot, ankle, and lower leg was swelled up something fierce and wrapped with a mile and a half of gauze and ace-wrap. Now that my leg is almost back to normal size I had to have a different boot. What makes this even nicer is the new boot weighs about half as much as the first one. Bonus!
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers,
greg

What kind of shape does the doctor think you are going to be in when it comes time for THE TRIP?

I didn't tell him about it. I'm going. Even if I have to crawl into the trailer
I can drive so it shouldn't be any major. Besides it's over 4 weeks away. I should be able to put some weight on it by then. My summer vacation plans have already been screwed up enough, so I'm not missing this one.

Ouch! Sounds like (with what you've endured)...you are in good spirits!
Hang in there...and let your body work it's little miracles.

Super! I felt sure you were going to go for it. At least you don't need your left foot to drive, and Mike can always help with anything you can't manage. I'm rootin' for ya.

Hard to drive with a left foot when it's hanging out the window.
