To Teetime: Event happens between 7am and 9 am. If you are on I-40 driving by at that time most likely will not see much (Balloon fiesta field is about 10 miles north of I-40). Moriarty is 30 miles east of Albuquerque on the other side of the mountains.

Keep checking back. 2 years ago, friends of ours pieced together a 2 week stay at the last minute. They just kept asking about cancellations and kept getting them.

We head over tomorrow! We are getting there a little early to help our rally organizer get setup.

I'm going to fill the generator tanks, auxillary tank, and 2 gas cans on our way. I should be carrying close to 50g of fuel. At 1/2 gallon per hour under load, I shouldn't need to refuel over the course of 2 weeks. We'll see, of course.

I sanitized my freshwater bladder tonight.

And I'll be topping up my freshwater tank tomorrow. I have a Harbor Freight transfer pump for moving water from the bladder to the RV.

We're spending the first week in the fenced off cemetery lot (I guess they put the Fulltime Families over there to corral the kids). And then the second week, we move to the North lot right next to the launch field!

We spent the day packing today, leave on Thursday am. After we drive 2,251 miles, we will be there on October 10th.

Whoa, that’s a lot of miles in a week! We left Florida in August and are only now making it!

Got to the Fiesta grounds today to help the rally organizers get setup. The space we are in is super tight. It sounds like they increased the spot sizes everywhere from the last time we were here. For us in a small cage in the corner, just makes it cozier roads between the rows. Oh well, I’m in!

The inverter setup with the automatic transfer switches is awesome. Our outlets become hot automagically when the generator stops.

And the push button generator is really nice in and of itself! We were able to have my teenage daughter come inside, start it up, and start the A/Cs to cool things down before bed.

The only downsides no campfires allowed; not even propane pits. So we made due:

I’ll be there 10/9 through 10/15. Currently at Lake Powell. Headed to Durango Thursday. Any advice on what to see and do there.

Lol.. why don’t they allow propane fire pits?

I’ve never heard the official position, but here are my 2 theories:

1) parking is super tight without much space between rigs. I imagine it’s a fire concern from people’s stupidity.

2) the RV parking is built on an old dump. They’re concerned that the methane gas could ignite. They also have a rule that portable generators must be 2’ off of the ground.

For folks coming in and parking at the south parking lot, here’s a video of the drive in from I-25 north.

Beautiful sunsets. But there’s a fair amount of light from the city of Albuquerque.

We're going to be there Monday - Thursday. We're on a cross country trip, left Boston area on Sept 4 and have racked up over 7000 miles already. Where will I find the FROG group to say hello?

Not 100% sure of the exact spot, but the Frog Rally group will be at the balloon fiesta park somewhere. We will be at the American RV resort with a few old friends and a few old beers.

Filled my freshwater tank from my bladder yesterday.

And used my sewer bladder to empty my gray tanks and those of 2 friends tonight.

Dry camping!

For people that don’t know the entire story, that would be gross.
