Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta - anyone else going?

Is anyone going to this year's Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta?

Pics from 2017 when we last went:

It's crazy how close to the balloons you can get on the field.

The parking is crazy tight and boondocking unless you spring for water+electric spots. But it's well worth it. If you want, you can sit on the roof and literally be able to talk to the pilots floating by.

Here's my mother-in-law taking photos one morning.

This is just a smattering of the balloons as they launch.

Cool! I wonder if anyone from here will be there. Looks like they're at the Fiesta from Wed-Mon, Oct 9-14.

Ha. My good friend, Jerry Sutherlin, is one of the official photogs for the event too(nikon user). He's from ABQ and around my age of 73(dark hair and moustache(I think). If bump into him tell him that Jay from Dayton sez "Hi".
Mention Brooks to him and you'll have a friend for life! Enjoy...

Maybe we'll bump into each other. I got a media pass this year so hopefully will be able to use that to get into a few more places/perspectives.

Media Pass? I'm your Huckelbury! We are driving about 2,400 miles to get there. Me and Betsy will be there with a few people you might know and maybe we can hang out.

DW and I did this about 10 years ago. (without the camper ) I acctually got puuled in to help launch a baloon (for once my size/weight worked out in my favor) during one of the mass ascensions. You will absolutely love it.
Dont miss out on the farmers markets/events on the town squares accros the city for all the local flavors and culture. Santa Fe was also a great time. Found an outdoor art/sculpture exhibit/park that was very cool. Make sure you take in a night glow event as well.

Planning a 2020 trip with our NE & OR friends as we speak.

LOL! Timing just has never worked. And I’m cheap. And because I bought a hold over 2017, I fall out of the 2-model-year window for repairs. So... it’s going to take some convincing!

Timing??? Or just planning right?? Understand on the 2017 thing we are now in that group as well, I am sure if you catch up with some certain Phat Progs at the Balloon Fest they can convince you and as far as CHEAP we can't help you there

We'll have a group of about 25 FROG units arriving on Wednesday during the Fiesta, coming down from Durango, CO.

We will be passing thru on the way to CA, staying the night of Oct. 8 at the Happy Trails Campground in Moriarty. Didn't even realize this was happening, and hope to see some of it while driving.

Tim, perfect statement. If that doesn't change Doug's mind nothing will, except for maybe a little convincing when we see him in Albuquerque and persuade him into finally showing up.

Just watch out for next April and if he tells us on April 1st that he's going to Goshen, don't believe him.

We may have to use some unconventional tactics but we will if you want us to.
