Aluminum Wheels
Is it worth upgrading to Aluminum Wheels? Trying to decide whether to order this upgrade with our new TT.

I think so. The white painted wheels tend to rust after awhile. I really like my aluminum wheels.

X2. Having the white painted wheels on our previous TT and having the aluminum wheels on our current TT, the aluminum wheels look so much better IMHO.

I have had both types and I would for sure go with the aluminum wheels. The white ones will rust and depending on where you live they could rust within the first few years.
IMHO you will regret it if you do not go with them.
Enjoy deciding what upgrades you may want.
What trailer are you getting? When are you ordering?

You should check torque of al, trailer wheels before hitting the road, but it's more important with alloy wheels from what I understand. I'd also go with alloy for aesthetics and longevity without maintenance.

Thanks for all of the input. We are planning on ordering Rockwood 2904SS. We hope to order it soon, a few loose ends to tie up first.
This TT comes with 2 - 20lb LP and not the 30Lb LP tanks that are on the Signature Ultra Lite units. Not sure if this will be a problem and if we should consider this as an immediate upgrade or see how it goes.

in our 5er 2 30 lb tanks last us one year .
In our tt unit 2 20 lb tanks did not .

ralph, nice trailer! I know you must be excited.
Your question is dependent on a few things:
1. Will you be camping in cold weather a lot. A furnace really drinks a lot of propane.
2. If you have a gas & electric water heater and will be at campgrounds with electric, you will save a ton of gas using the electric.
If you will be at campgrounds with hookups and not a ton of cold weather camping I think you will be alright with the 20lb. tanks. If you will be boon docking a lot then you may want to consider the 30lb. bottles.
IMHO I would wait and see how it goes. Spend your money is some other areas to upgrade.

The least expensive time to upgrade is when the camper is ordered...ask for the 30 lb propane tanks as part of the deal.

I went with the 30lb bottles when I ordered my trailer. It was a difference of $65 for the upgrade over the 20lb bottles. Well worth it in my opinion.

We had a boat with aluminum wheels in the 70s that corroded around the tire bead. That put me off aluminum wheels for a long time, but nowadays, they're powder coated, and I don't think that's so much of a problem, anymore. I got aluminum on my new TT a couple of weeks ago.
