Everyone is wrong

That is your brand new RV being delivered to your dealer!!

I watch them everyday on the 401 in Ontario going faster than any traffic on the road.

You've got to love those contracted RV delivery guys. Just before I moved from Anchorage in 2002, there was a story on the local TV station by their troubleshooting reporter. A family of four had decided that they'd had enough of living in a house and decided to sell it and bought a brand new class A MH from the largest dealer in town. They chose to do a trip down on the Kenai peninsula as a shakedown before hitting the Alaska highway for points south. On that trip the Diesel engine failed. After a long towe back to Anchorage, the dealer sent them to the Cummins dealer for the repair. They looked at the data from the computer which revealed that the MH had been driven for extended time at over 120 mph. Also it had been left idling for long periods. The contractor had severely abused the RV on the trip north. Cummings, the RV dealer and Fleetwood all denied responsibility. The family was living in the MH on the dealer's property while all of the arguing was going on. Only when they contacted the TV station did anything start to get resolved. The last I heard, Fleetwood was offering them a brand new rig but wanted them to pay the difference on the newer model. There was a lot of negative exposure for everyone!

I've been passed by many delivery trucks towing RVs going well over 80 mph. I'm sure they're paid a set fee for the delivery so the more they deliver, the more they make. It doesn't make for safety on the highway!

Chrysler dealer looking at logged data on my 2012 CTD, said my ECM showed idling 44% of the hours on the engine. 95% of my driving is on highways... this has to be bad info. I later wondered if the data he was looking at was from another Cummins engine and he hadn't cleared the data. I don't know if this is possible, but my point, you can't believe what you hear and half of what you see.

Willing to bet that was a transporter...especially on I40/I65.

They get paid by the unit so time is money and they do NOT care about the tires - they are new and should be ok at 90MPH for at least 900 miles and that is all they have to worry about

Yet another reason the FIRST upgrade to your pull behind is a new set of good (Goodyear or Maxxis) tires +1 load rating over what is recommended for your unit.

(Even YET another reason we picked up our unit in Elkhart, IN - no WAY did I want a transporter driving our baby to us in AL!)

This reminds me of a trip over a year ago to the beach. We were heading home just south of Birmingham. I was going about 70 in the right lane and a truck pulling a nice bass boat blew by me doing at least 80. He got maybe 1/8 mile ahead of me and blew a tire. By the time he got the tire changed, I was probably well north of the city, so he didn't save any time by driving fast, not to mention the possible damage to the trailer.

Whoever is going slower than me is an idiot and whoever is going faster is a maniac!

Call me paranoid - but before EVERY trip I check the air pressure in all tires and make sure they're at exactly 85 PSI - then I keep it 65 or below (despite my Carlisle tires being actually rated for 75 mph. Especially during the heat of a Texas summer (and 90+ degrees just this week in February).

By doing so - I tend to get LOTS of miles without any tire problems. Almost without fail any problem I've had has been from picking up a nail or screw - and that religious pressure check seems to help find those before they become a real issue.
