Yes there is a wonderful campground. The name of it is Birmingham South Campground. 18 miles south of Downtown Birmingham, Al. Less than 1 mile west of I-65 at exit 242 in Pelham, AL. 800.772.8832.

It is very clean, conveniently located and has the nicest people.

Oak Mountain State Park is a nice park, but the campground needs upgrading badly. We are locals and frequent the park often and have camped in our TT twice in the campground. No wi-fi and AT&T service is spotty due to all the trees and mountains. If you are into nature you will be OK with that, but if you don't care about nature and just want a place to park your rig and have free wi-fi and cable, you can camp at the Hoover RV park at the Hoover Met. It's basically a large parking lot with a few sparse trees here and there, but is in a convenient location. My sister stayed in this campground for a couple of months after they purchased their motorhome and they were happy with it. Personally, we like nature and prefer a state park type site, but different strokes for different folks. If you'd rather be close to shopping, Hoover RV Park is a good choice.

Tannehill is great for all. Kids love it as it is great place for them to roam. They have trade days the third weekend of the month from March thru November. Park always starts to fill up the 2nd weekend in preparation for this. We just stayed there for 5 days with the grandson and he loved it. He is 5. Check their website for activities. They usually have a lot going on spring and summer.

Any decent RV parks around Birmingham, AL area?

Thanks to all for your inputs. An update for those reading this,,,Hoover is closed until 1 June 2017 for major updates and road logistics in conjunction with the Sports Complex that is close them.
I am going to stay at the Birmingham South site for the 4 days that I am in the area visiting wife's family members before heading for NOLA for some more fun.
