Partially packed & ready to go... we head to FL keys every year for the holiday - lower keys one year, upper keys the next since getting our camper 6 yrs ago. DH is going to try his hand at grilling a turkey breast & our final night is always grilled FL lobsters and fresh caught fish .... dang, next week cannot come soon enough!

This is the view of our site that I picked for this year on Cudjoe Key ... currently for sale for only $500,000 . Could never afford to live that way but sure going to look forward to parking our little MicroLite on that expensive piece of property and drowning a few shrimp to catch a fish or two!

Crosswinds campground is a place I'd would like to try out next year it's only 56 miles from my house looks like a handful of other forum members on here speak highly of it Perhaps even arrange a get together some weekend

We stayed there last Christmas. It's a nice place. Great staff. Some sites on the inside can be small. If you're closer to the Gulf or the back area, sites are good size. We'll be just a mile down the road from you at Grassy Key RV Park.

Year #11 at American Heritage RV Park in Williamsburg, VA. Two RVs and 2 cabins. This has been our tradition to meet half way with our Maryland family. It's been fun to watch our crowd grow, as our adult kids and my nephews all have significant others. In a year or two I imagine it will be tougher to all get together. Hoping they become 3rd generation RVers though and will continue to join us.

We'll deep fry 2 turkeys for the crowd of 12 people (and 6 dogs). Place is always full. We'll be there all week.

Yes we will be there with you and 3 other Frog family's. My DW and I checked this out last year when we did thanksgiving at the cg on Tybee Island. She made the arrangements before she passed away and we had already got commitments from the other Frogs to come so I will be doing in memory of her. Later RJD

We enjoy Crosswinds as well. Has all the basics needed for a getaway and it's affordable. And like mentioned, love the late check out. NC Train Museum in Spencer is a nice place to visit if you are at Crosswinds and of course there is Lexington BBQ!

I'm game for a gathering some weekend!

Camping in Longs, SC at WillowTree RV Resort over Thanksgiving. One of our favorite places in the Myrtle Beach area to camp. Super long sites with concrete pads and plenty wide too. Buddy sites are terrific.

We're heading South from Mid Michigan and to spend Thanksgiving in Indianapolis with 3 Daughters/ Families.(Lake Haven RV Resort)..Then onto Tucson for 3 months....by way of Key West, FL

We've come to learn that the shortest distance between 2 points has little meaning for RVers.

Any reason you didn't go back to JR this year? We are going to be on one of the bigger sites close to the water. We live a few hours from the Keys and we're trying different CG's every time we go. Trying to see which one that we like the best.

Thanksgiving Camping

Actually, we are leaving home the day after Turkey Day. We are going to Houston for the Navy vs. Houston football game on November 30.

Go Navy - Beat the Coogs!

We found we liked Grassy Key RV Park better. We stayed there last Feb and March and made friends that we want to see again. It's a small CG - only 37 sites. For us, it has a more family like feel. Plus, the old Overseas Highway roadbed begins just south of the campground and continues on into Marathon. It's much safer than walking or biking on the highway. There is a residential neighborhood off the highway that is nice to walk and cycle in as well. JR is a nice place, don't get me wrong. Glad you got a larger site near the water, you'll like it. You'll be far away from the highway it will be quieter. Btw, if you plan any evening dinners out, there are a couple in Marathon worth going to. The SS Wreck, just down the road is a good one. We just walk to it, it's that close. Enjoy your stay!

We will be camping inside our home while several of our grandchildren camp in our travel trailer in the backyard. We sleep in it often in the backyard but this will be the first time we’ve used it as a guest house.

We're gonna get snow. Had to winterize the trailer. From 75 degrees last week to lows in the 20's for Turkey Day with snow. I think we're done til spring.
