You should check out Henderson Beach State park if you haven't already. They are right on the beach and have nice facilities. It can be tough to get in if you don't make reservations way ahead of time, but they always have spots reserved for walk ins. You can also check with the office in the mornings and if they have cancellations, they let you stay. My parents and I stay there almost every year. Last year we waited too long to get spots for May, but we went anyway, and were able to each stay 3 nights as walk ins.
