Are RV'ers ever satisfied?

So,
Every year at this time we head off into the Boston rv show, spend the $15 to park(rip off), pay the cost of entrance, $15 ea(rip off) and walk around and look at all the new and shiny rv's. We look at the new layouts and wonder if this layout would work better for us, oh ya and they might have more trinkets and features, lights here instead of there, a refrig that's bigger and maybe moved so it's easier to access. Things that I saw was plastic where there use to be wood, screws on stairs that are exposed heading up to the bedrooms. I just wish the industry would invest more in quality instead of "stuff". Don't get me wrong we too like going in and looking around, gather information on campgrounds, pick up a few things we need. It also allows us to think of spring, taking cover off and getting ready to head to myrtle beach in April . People do what they have to do, some need to upgrade, bigger family, kids are on there own or huge problems with unit they have. I think the best thing is watching the first timers with young kids running around beginning their rving journey, "daddy, mommy we like this one", that's awesome!
So, Are we just ever satisfied of what we have?
I'm happy to say this rv'er is and is able to walk down the isles and just look!!

Mike

You can pay admission to the RV show or you can pay for the fuel to go to multiple RV dealerships not to mention all the time that would take. It's a matter of convenience.

For myself and the DW it cost us $ 6.00 each (Senior Discount) and $10 to park when we go to the Chicago RV show in Rosemount IL. This is cheaper than compared to a movie for the night out. And parking is usually more than $10 to park anywhere in the Chicagoland area; so this is a fair deal. In fact it usually costs me more than that, because she likes to shop at the outlet mall right off of I294 before going to the RV show in Rosemount IL.

We also manage to get a free night or two of camping at some RV park that we are interest in while we are at the show. So all in all the $22 dollars cost for the day is not a bad outlay for us. As I consider this entertainment cost for the day.

The last two years at the Tampa show I was able to get free tickets good for two people. This year parking was $6, spent $14 for my lunch and about $7 in gas plus got a free Onan/Cummins hat ($10 value). I also got to meet Frog Bob. Not bad for a day of entertainment.

I love trade shows; RV, Boat, Home Improvement, Salt Water Fishing. Go when I can. Parking can be a problem. Most shows offer Senior discounts or Coupons.
Rarely buy anything, although my last MH was a used unit I saw on a picture board at RV show. Put up a refundable deposit and went to the dealer that next week. Was as represented, so I bought it.

Buying an RV is like getting married. You keep looking till you find the one that makes you happy. Now that doesn't mean that you can't take the occasional glance at a newer model......Haha only joking!!

There was a time when we went to the Atlantic City Sail Boat Show. It was in Feb. and indoors, Atlantic City Convention Hall. Get together with friends for the weekend and celebrate the half way point of winter.
RV shows are the same in the cold parts of the country. Get together with some friends and plan out the coming camping season.
The trick is being where it's warm for the winter. Yes, I'm in Fla. :-)

I bought at a show and then had the dealer give me back the amount I spent to get in. We were both happy.

IMO it's worth spending $30 to better-guide a $20K+ purchase... PLUS, I'm sure you could get most dealers to deduct another $50-$100 off the RV show price to recoup your RV Show tickets & parking...

We went to our first RV Show with no intent to buy but walked-away knowing exactly what we wanted. Originally we were going to buy a hybrid but eventually settled on 2-slide bunkhouses with outdoor kitchen. I took pictures of everything, including price sheets & used the info to guide our eventual purchase 2 months later...

I like going just to look around. It is $20 at the door for the 3 of us or $16 in advance. ($10/adult, kids free; advance $8/adult). Parking is free in Raleigh, $4 in Greensboro. We spend more in fuel going to Raleigh so it evens out. Some years we go and fall in love with a new floor plan, some years it just reinforces our live of our current rig. DH has outlawed me from going because I typically find some poor slob trying to buy a giant rig for a tiny TV and end up teaching them about weights etc and introducing them to rv forums.

Just went to the Pittsburgh show. Good show, lots of diversity this year. Last year we bought our FR3 and after the show this year we are comfortable knowing that we bought what was right for us. I did scan around to see upgrades that may suit us, found one or two. While we consider a big new top of the line unit we came to our senses because we do not live in the motorhome. We take little trips and the new and shiny number was way more than we will need. At least for now. On a screaming cold day the RV show was an escape and enjoyable one at that. This show has boats, off road vehicles, some booths that essentially are home show type of stuff and lots of informational booths catering to the RV resorts and campgrounds. I say, it is entertaining and worth it.

Enjoy rv shows, they have confirmed our purchase was the right one for our needs. After looking at new model of our unit, get convinced that I will stay where I am at for a while. Current rig is paid for, can do a lot of camping on what the note would be a new shiny unit. Do notice that the trend seems to be less storage in the new units. Both DW and I are guilty of snagging a accessory we can not live without! As stated earlier cheap day out of the house!

DW is happy with the camper we have now but since I like more windows I look at more campers. Besides I like to go to the shows, most of the time I know more about the campers than the salesman knows, that's a fun part. Most salespeople want to know if you have a truck and if you do you can pull any camper. I like to go and look, I'm never satisfied with what I have

Our biggest multi dealer show is early March at $10 per adult and free parking. $2 off discounts are readily available. No plans to ever trade, but just like to see new designs and features and pick up brochures (with various discounts) from various campgrounds.
For serious buyers this is a great opportunity to compare models, brands and prices. You can price shop Rockwood vs. Flagstaff with a walk of 50 feet.
The nominal admission fee helps keep the crowds manageable.
