Are Slides All or Nothing?

After reading a post about challenging campsites and the difficulty some present when trying to position for slides, I wonder if slides are okay to use only part way extended. I've been known to extend our slides just a little to make it easier to repack after a trip. I extend the large front slide maybe 12" at most for a short time. Sometimes jacks are down & sometimes not but the MH is sitting level in the drive.

I think some of the CGs we'll be in on our big trip this year may present challenges. I thought if we could get the slides out even a few inches, we'd be good but I don't want to take a chance on damaging them.

Thanks for any advice!

if you are going to use what's in the slides, then YES.
it's bad to put weight on a slide that isn't all the way out, from what i've read and been told.
our slideout isn't stable until it is fully extended.

A slide has a set of seals closed and a set that seals open. A partially opened slide would most likely leak in a rain.

Thanks guys! I hadn't thought about the seals and leaks. I haven't noticed any movement with either slide when only opened part way but I'll limit the time they're open and we won't be using them when they're not fully extended.
