We were at "Solartown" Madras Or. The alfalfa farmer delivered everything that they promised. It was a good camping spot. The trip down took 5 hours; the return trip took 25 hours. I was very thankful for driving a Ram diesel tow vehicle in that stop and go traffic with steep hills on single lane roads.
The event was worth it. A fantastic!

we were lucky, we live in the path of totality in South St Louis. We planned on going to a park where we would have had 2 minutes of totality, but decided to watch it at our house where we had 1 minute 16 secs. We saved alot of traffic, had our own bathroom, and had AC and a fan as needed.
One of the most incredible things I have seen in my life

Glad we traveled for the Eclipse!
We drove to Missouri from Texas, went to a small town county fairgrounds where there were about 300-400 other people. The local Chamber of Commerce was providing a free lunch. There were probably 75-80 people from out of town. According to the fireman I talked to they though there were a couple of thousand extra people in town overall.
My wife and I enjoyed it greatly. The two minutes and 20 seconds of totality we had was worth all the time driving and the cost of the campgrounds, too. We used the visit to see her extended family in a couple of different areas of Missouri. No traffic, no problems (other than a tire tread separating-- posted elsewhere) and a good trip. In 2024, if I live to see it, we will stay closer to home. We'll still have to leave the house, but should be able to get to totality in under 30 minutes or so.
This photo was about 1 minute before totality. My wife was SUPER impressed by the solar corona and the flares that were visible during totality!
