Yesterday morning I took the 85 mile trip to at long last pick up our new 5th wheel. It's more beautiful then I remembered, it's also much more massive then I remembered as well.
It's a flagstaff 8528BHWS and she's a beauty. Pulled it home with my 1500 ram, which had plenty of power to do so. Think I'll put some air bags in the rear to eliminate the bit of a squat it has when connected, but otherwise did a fine job, and got 8 mpg, though I'd love to do better, was very happy with that! (especially since I got 6 when I towed the tt to Florida)
I always put or last tt in our driveway, and put out the bump out. These full slide slides are not possible to open. So we put it in our neighbors driveway for now so we can load our stuff, as well as install tv mount in bed room etc. we ended up having a community get together in the driveway last night. Pulled out a fire pit fired up the gas grill, dragged over a cooler and got some tunes playing through the outside speakers. We haven't even gone anywhere yet but have already enjoyed our first night of "street camping". Some of the neighbors joined us, while others came to check out our new toy.
Next weekend will be our first trip, but already we are loving it.
Here's to a great season of family time,
Happy camping everyone!!!
