Don't mean to give you flak for saving a buck ( I'm Scottish and have been known to be a little thrifty) any way I was in Ocala last year then heading to the Fort my GPS took me on to 27 and no tolls but it was a little longer so it is possible.

3 yrs ago we pulled our SOB 5th from N Texas to Maine and back 0 tolls, US highways most of the way SAW a lot of history we would have missed on the toll rds.

Is the $18 for the whole trip, 1 way or PER toll booth?
You couldn't tow from one side of Dallas to the other for $18.00!

Not worth the trouble, pay the tolls! And do the speed limit, FHP Florida highway patrol is very active on that stretch .
Drive safe and enjoy your trip

Hit mapquest, google, good sam, whatever you choice is and figure out is the route around the tolls worth the extra miles or not. Sometimes they are, sometimes they are not. From there you can plan your route.

Google maps - click Show Options - click Avoid Tolls.
That looks like it skips the FL tpk and adds about 25 minutes of surface highways.

Take I-75 to exit 354 (Ocala, Silver Springs FL), follow US 27 south to US 192, follow the signs to Disney World, then Fort Wilderness. 446 miles, approx 7 hrs. If you don't want to pay tolls, stay off the FL turnpike.

My view is as long as avoiding the tolls does not outweight or equal the cost of tolls, then I will take the route. But if I have to go 15-20 miles to avoid 4 dollars (one of the local toll roads around here) then just pay the toll and save the fuel.

The most direct way is to pay the tolls. The cost for the extra fuel to go around is not worth it, it cost $95 per day at DW and the RV park you noted must be almost $50. Good Luck

wasnt trying to give anybody any flak, and im all for saving money where possible. if its only going to add 15 to 20 minutes to the trip, i say fine. bypass the tolls and pocket the money. if its going to take longer than an hour, only you know how much your time is worth.

MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map

mapquest says .5 miles longer and 20 minutes. might be worth the the bypass route going down, and then you can decide if it was all worth it. let us know if the bypass was no big deal or a bigger headache that it was worth.

either way, enjoy your vacation and
