Awning Heighth

We bought a Sabre 31CKTS in June of this year, and our best friends bought a 31RETS in August. Both 5th wheels came with Dometic 9100 awnings, however, ours is 15' in length and theirs is a bit over 16' My question is our awning when extended does not have as much clearance between the ground and the roller bar as our friends. When their awning is extended you can see out under the awning while standing in the doorway, but with ours you can not see beyond the awning when standing in the same place. I did measure the arms and the only difference we noted was the sliding portion of the arm which allows you to lock the awning in a lower position when raining is about 7" longer on our friends than ours. This explains why it is higher off the ground. My question is; can we simply change the piece that contains the sliding mechanism or is the modification going to be more complex?

Are you sure your tilts are not locked in the shorter position? There should be a knob on each side that allows the slide to extend. These are used to tilt the awning when open. See if your knobs are locked tight, if so, loosen knobs and see if awning goes up more.

Yes they are loose and the extension is at the limit. Thanks for the reply though.
