Perryville, MO which is 60 miles south of me on I-55 was hammered last night by a major tornado. It left one dead and at least 10 people injured. It flattened some houses and tossed cars like they were made of balsa wood. I didn't hear if the campground in that area sustained any damage.

Sad, I saw that on the 10pm news. I even felt sorry for the First Responders that were searching for people in the dark and debris. I cannot begin to imagine the tension they felt trying to search and not miss a survivor.

Local news reports that the twister picked up about a dozen cars from a junkyard and dropped some of them onto I-55 in traffic (resulting in the one death)

About 30 houses were totally obliterated.

It is a miracle that only one person was killed. I cannot see how anyone survived in those houses. This was about 60 miles south of St. Louis.

In the STL we had hail like this...

It was a particularly quick and violent storm.

Head north to Keyesport. Nice small town ask the folks at the American Legion where to stay. I am a member (& founder of new post built about 1999) of post 1994 and they will guide you.

We're in Evansville also. Fortunately - for us - the storms ended up going just north of us (we're on the west side just north of USI) and hit more of the Ft. Branch - Princeton area. It's been a REALLY weird winter - days in the 60's and 70's!
