Battery

Hello campers... My wife and I just bought a 2002 Forest River Wildwood 37bhss2q set up on a permanent foundation at Lake Cherokee in Tennessee with full roof over, full hook ups, etc.etc.etc.. We are hooked up to full electrical service at the campground. My question is: since we are hooked up to electrical service, is there any reason to keep a deep cycle battery hooked up as well ?? Wasn't sure if there was anything in the camper that would be affected by "no battery" ? Everything seems to work fine so far, but I don't have a manual to read to see if no battery affects anything.
Thanks for your response in advance..

When we had our Wildwood trailer and the battery went bad, I just disconnected it. Every thing seemed to work alright for a while. One day we had friends come out to enjoy the day and the weather was some what cool and damp. We all seemed to end up in the trailer that evening and had all the lights going, the stereo going and the kicked the furnace in. a few minutes latter the lights and every thing else went out. Seems we overloaded the converter and fried it. With the battery in place we would have taken some of the load off the converter. Most likely we damaged the converter over a period of time not just the one time.

A battery will also give you backup for fridge, lights and heat ( if propane full and on) should the power go out. Probably not a bad investment. You should be able to get by wih a mid range battery.

Thanks for the advice. Makes sense.. Doesn't seem like the battery is a huge benefit, but sounds like it could keep from damaging other functions of the camper when needed. So I will buy one and put it in. I did read where you need to keep a close eye on water levels in your batteries when connected to 110 volt power on a continuous basis which I will do.. Thanks again for your comments..
