Battery Change-out

I've been thinking about changing out to 6 volt batteries. What group size do I want/need for my size RV? I currently have just one 12 volt. Thanks for any info.

Hi Mr Zappa
The size you want is GC2, depending on the make they will range from about 210ah to 240ah.

I recently changed out my 12v for two GC2s from Sam's Club. These are larger batteries of course and 2 of them just fit into the battery space of my 21ds. The benefit of this setup is that you can boondock for a lot longer than with the standard 12v battery. The cost wasn't too bad either!

It's hard to beat the proven performance of Trojan T-105 6 volt batteries. They weigh 62 lbs each. You can get a similar battery at Costco for a few bucks less, but it still isn't a Trojan. I buy mine from a local golf cart shop for about $110 each. Well worth the money.

Keep in mind you’ll need an additional wire to go from the positive to the negative posts to connect the two 6V in series.

The GC2 6v golf cart batteries have the same footprint as the Group 24 12v batteries. They are just taller.
