Battery from Tent Trailer - what is this corroded part on top?

Our tent trailer has been sitting for a year and we went to get it ready for a trip - and the battery has some corrosion happening on the top of it. What is that piece on top that is corroding - the one with the 4 nuts on it? I'm not sure what it is, what it does or if I just need it for connecting those extra cables? Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm guessing it's a disconnect switch, but it's hard to tell. Not sure why there would be 4 nuts on it. At first I thought it went from one battery post to the other, but then I realized the red wire at the top just passes under the black wire.

It could also be part of a current sensing circuit. The extra two connections would go to an ampere meter of some sort.

I'd definitely get rid of it, whatever it is...

here are a couple closeups of the mystery attachment - my husband is researching on the internet and is having trouble finding any info. It came from the factory new like this to us ( or something dealer did maybe... ).

Looks like a couple of paralleled circuit breakers, like a Short Stop 12vdc

The pictures are of some circuit breakers you can get new ones at most automotive parts stores. You should replace them if they are factory because they will protect something electrical in the trailer like a fuse would.

If there's a small button on the side, they're definitely circuit breakers.

These are what you need and if I remember correctly this circuit is for your power winch that raises the roof on your popup. You can neutralize the acid corrosion with a mixture of water and baking soda. Warm water works best flushed with plenty of water afterwards.
The original circuit breakers may still have the amperage rating printed on them but my guess is they are 20 amp if they are set up as a pair.

FYI - If the battery was not on a maintainer or regularly charged during the year of non-use, it will be useless.
