A year ago a bear left a paw print on the door of our popup trailer while staying at Yellowstone, the campground was much further south at Lewis Lake. That incident was the final straw, we sold the popup and now have a hard side trailer.

We visited Yellowstone again this past May, firearms are allowed in the park, and a concealed permit is not needed unless indeed the firearm is concealed, I carried mine this year with me in a holster on my belt. However, no firearm, with or without a permit is allowed inside ANY of the buildings within the park, this falls under the Federal Building part of the firearm restrictions.

Pondlady: You're from GR? Small world! Pretty sad turn of events for the family. I work for the same company as the decedent's spouse.

I was born and raised in Grand Haven, about 30 miles inland from GR, at the mouth of the Grand River at Lake Michigan. You have probably been there.
MrT, you are from W Michigan as well. Anywhere near Grand Haven? Or do you live in Grand Rapids?
What an awful tragedy for the family.

Yes Ma'am, born & raised in GR and still there in the 'burbs. I know Grand Haven well. We just did our shakedown cruise at Holland State Park. If you've been away for a while, you should visit again and see how the GR-to-the-lake "metroplex" has developed.

I was there last October for my 93 yo father's funeral. Actually, I was raised in Spring Lake, but nobody has ever heard of that. Hofmaster near Ferrysburg is fantastic. The Oval, where I just about lived all summers is now closed. I was sorry to see that. I sure got a photo of the lighthouse tho. Must be my 5000th photo of it through the years. I have an old HS friend in GR. He used to own Bishop's Furniture.

The main thing to remember is the Mother Bear and her Three Cubs. I dont beleave we will ever know what Happined, But a Mother will protect her Young, I dont think ( no matter how Horrific) that she should have been put down.. Relocated Yes...
I have lived in Alaska for a few years, and One thing you learn, Being a fisherman, is Wear a Bell and Carry a Flare Gun, A 44 or 9mm will do nothing but piss them off, as with a Flare gun, the sound will scare them away.. And remember, its there Land, we just want to be part of it...

It always bothers me when animals are put down simply because we invaded their space and we think we are entitled to it.
