Below freezing for 12 hours

We are leaving today for a weekend camping trip. Temps will be upper 30s during the day and as low as 20 at night, below freezing about 10-12 hours a day.We have a puma 28fqdb travel trailer with enclosed underbelly but no tank heaters, also have an outside kitchen sink and shower. My question is should I leave it winterized and dry camp or do you guys think I'd be safe to fill fresh water tank and run furnace that is ducted in the floor? I've read a bunch of the post on this subject and am still not sure what way to go. Temps just seems to be in a grey area about what is safe. Thanks

That would be pushing it in my opinion, and I'm pretty lax on subject. I have no problems with mid 40's during the day and dipping below freezing at night. Your scenario is a little different. I have camped where we used the toilet but flushed with a jug of water. This kept the water lines clear until the temps raised, usually while we were in transit to warmer climates.

I would leave the camper winterized and use bottle drinking water and a few jugs of water for the toilet. Why take the chance, if was just going to be right at freezing it would be different. Better be safe than sorry, busted pipes is no fun.

X2 on what spock said. I have camped when the temps were as low as 18 at night and just used bottled water for drinking and jugs of water for the toilet. I really don't want to take a chance on freezing a pipe.

We have heated basement in Berkshire 38A and have been camping 7 nights with temps 20-22 with no problems. Last night 21. Just make sure you have plenty of propane.

Every unit is different, I would probably use water in mine but I would not flush the antifreeze out of the outside shower as that would be the 1st to freeze.

Thanks all the reply’s. We dry camped the 1st night. Weather forecast was upper 20s 2nd night and only below freezing for 6-8 hrs. We dewinterized and filled water tank for 2nd night and all was well. No more freezing weather in our long term forecast, but will rewinterize if that changes.

and all the other threads probably had the same bottom line. It it worth you risking it and risking damage? I would make every precaution possible. Space heater etc.

I plan on going out this weekend and because of Michigan's crazy spring I will blow out and rewinterize when done.

Spring in Wisconsin. Snow to high 60s and back to snow in a week. Looks like dewinterizing will have to wait a little longer.
