Best length for extension power cable?

Decided not to get my question lost in the extremely long "Extension cord or not" thread.
I plan on getting a 30 amp extension cord. Most common are 25' and 50', although I've seen a few others lengths. What extension length has proved needed to you?
Currently I'm considering either a 25', a 50', or 2 25's, all in 10awg. I considered a 10' or 15' but for just a little more you can get the 25'. I do try to use the shortest supply cable I have when connecting for power.

I have 2 25' foot cords, so far I had to use only one 25'. But have the other for a spare.

For me I went with the longest I could get which I think is probably 50' it's come in handy more than once.

The last time we camped the power was up an the front of the site next to the road (the site marker was on it). I had no idea that those existed anymore. The 50' was sufficient. However, a 25' would not have been (yes, this is on top of the standard cord that I have which is probably a 25').

In order to get level I had to go to the back and around a bit of a corner. The water was back there as well.. not sure what the folks that engineered that site were thinking when they did that. However, it was sure nice not to have to stress about it.

I've been in sites as well where having some extra hose was a good thing too.

This "Length " question is the same as water hoses, if you have a 50' there will be times when 51' will be required! We have 52' of extra power cord and 100'of water hose! Plus a Inverter Generator! Youroo! !

I think shorter is better. The 50’ even at 10 gauge concern me and I’ve never been “too short” at 25 when I consider what’s in the camper now.

Yes, WAL-MART is practical, you can also spend the night there and don't even unwrap your new cord, NOW that is practical.

We have a 25'. Hopefully it's enough. It sure will stink the day when it isn't enough.

We are currently at a site where we need about 65’ of electrical cable. I recommend multiple 25’ cords. Same with water hoses. Shorter lengths are more manageable and easier to store.

Haven't been in a situation where I've needed more than 10' extra, but did buy a 25' extension also an extra 25' water hose.

I have a fifteen ft extension, trailer cord is 30 ft. Bought it right after getting back from a pull thru site with the power pole up front of the site and cord would not reach.

We carry an extra 25' and a 12'. That 12' has come in handy a lot.

As a former welder we always considered the amperage drop per foot of power cord. This could be the same in RV power cords. A 50 footer could result in a significant amperage drop. Maybe an electrican here can enlighten us.

We carry 2 extra 25 footers. Also a block to put the connectors on in case of rain to keep them off the ground. Previous poster is right. You get voltage drop the longer the cable, so keeping it shorter is better. We only use the extra cable when we have to, and that keeps the voltage drop to a minimum, but, when we need that extra length we add the second extension and it works well. Tight budget? Just buy one 25 footer and later, if needed buy the other. You can usually find them at Wall-Mart at a decent price, as well as at RV dealers and Camping World, etc., that are usually close enough by the campgrounds to get the extra one later.
