I am not familiar with those roads but the shortest rouute (18) looks pretty twisty.

You might be better sticking with US421 to US211 to 16 then picking up 1567, 1552, 1560 then 1549.

You also might ask the campground as most people that work campgrounds are campers as well

Let me know how you like the campground, I think someone in my family settled that town. I'll have to go, I have wanted to go for awhile now and with a campground there I have no excuse not to go

If you are a AAA member, go down the local office and they will plot a route for you.

Interesting question. I'm heading to Twin Rivers on Friday.

I'm planning on I40 west to 421N to 21N. Have been that way many times up to Sparta and beyond. Have never been to Crumpler though, so we will see.

Twin Rivers Route

I would recommend Hwy 421 to Hwy 16, and then take SR1567 (Old Hwy 16) to SR 1560, as outlined on the following Google link.

Hwy 421 to Hwy 221 is OK, except for road construction on 221 between Deep Gap and Jefferson.
Hwy 18 N below Laurel Springs has steep grade and some nasty curves; is OK if your driving skills (and brakes) are really good.

My rig is housed near Crumpler, so I am very familiar with the area.

Enjoy your stay!

Best motorhome route to Crumpler NC

We took 421 to 221 to 16. Didn't experience any issues or delays due to the construction on 221.

What a great trip! Only stayed 2 nights but had a great time. We kayak fished on Saturday (4 hour float down river), and did a 3 hour tube trip Sunday. The kids loved it, the CFO loved it, and I loved it. Despite the tight campground (spots and access) we didn't have any issues getting our 42' fifth wheel in and out. We will be back in a couple of weeks.

FYI. They have recently added 4 full hook-up sites (sites 1-4) that sit right in the water. We were in 24 and were also right on the water.

I'm glad that you had a good trip, and took in some of the area's best activities. (Sorry I didn't see your reply until now.)

We're going there next weekend.

Come back soon!
