There are some confusing (to me) signs as you get closer to Baltimore on I95. You DO NOT WANT TO GET ON THE EXPRESS LANES TO TAKE 695 south. Stay to the right.
My experience with 695 at night time is there is very little traffic. In some sections it seems the road is deserted.

Ok I usually ride in the right lanes doing 60-65 just in case I had to get off the highway but knowing that we will stick to right lanes as my wife is the co-pilot but not good with signs at night but thanks for the info

We take 695 east, over the bridge. We there is a toll. West, no toll and technically shorter but we have always been boned on traffic and aggressive drivers.

When you reach the White Marsh exit you will want to be in the right lane, the 695 exit will be shortly after White Marsh, then for the east bound way while on the exit ramp you want to be in the left lane of the exit to head east. While on 695 pay attention to the exit signs to follow 695 east. That early you should have the road around Baltimore to yourself. Good luck and safe travels

I've taken my class C and our first travel trailer over the bridge several times. The bridge is really long and rises really high into the sky and it is very narrow so there are just a couple of feet of clearance on one side then cars coming at you on the other. It can be intimidating. When there is wind it can be kind of scary but I would never not drive on it. I try not to worry about those things though but I think a few years ago a semi was blown off the bridge by wind. You do kind of have that in the back of your mind the entire time going across. I've personally never been on a bridge that ascends that high in the middle and is that long.

I cross that bridge round trip every time I go south. When we go south, always take 301 to 50 back to 301 to Richmond. Much more relaxing ride. From 50 to Richmond on 301 more traffic in the towns, but not that bad. Been going this way since the 80s.

I have been caught in bad traffic on I-95 (By Pass) at 0200 due to construction being done. I notice that around DC they due all of their road work at night.
