Talking Beyond Excited - Planning Florida Trip!

We're about to celebrate our first year of camping trailer style (vs tent/popup) and so far we've only camped in Texas no more than 300 miles away from home and have absolutely LOVED it.

Now we're getting braver and are planning our first out-of-state trip to Florida - AHHHH! So excited I can hardly contain my anticipation!

First we're going to Wekiwa State Park and stay for about a week and we will take a day or two to visit Daytona where my husband has already booked a Petty Driving Experience, LOL! That's not for me, but hey, opposites attract!

Then we're going to John Pennekamp State Park where we'll stay another week to do more snorkeling, have a fish charter or two and plan a visit to the Dry Tortugas by plane!!! AHHHH!!!!!
Goodness, time goes by fast enough, but I can't wait until we get that trip started. Kinda hard to think about the other two trips we have planned in between, LOL!

We're going the first half of September - and there better not be any hurricanes, for real!

Very cool. We'll be back from Florida by that point. We decided to leave the heat and humidity of summer in Maryland for MEGA HEAT AND HUMIDITY of summer in Florida.

Sounds like a wonderful adventure. I have been to Wekiwa in the winter to see the Manatees that come in for the warm water. Never been to Pennekamp but it looks awesome! We love to snorkel so this will get added to the list for the future. Enjoy every minute!!

LOL! Oh yes I do!

It'll probably still be sunny and 80 when we come in September, might even be 90 - just so long as there are no hurricanes

Naw. It doesn't hit 80 until the end of October, if you are lucky. And, that is here in north central Florida. We even have 80 sometimes on Christmas day. Down in the keys you will have it in the 90's. Hurricanes peak in August and September, but hopefully you won't be affected. Your trip sounds fabulous and you will enjoy it! I am glad you are doing something different than the usual beach and Disney thing. A lot of Florida is rural, and while you are not going to rural areas this time, plan to come back and spend time canoeing our many rivers and swim and tube in our beautiful springs (of which Wekiwa is one).

From a transplanted Texan, welcome to Florida. Enjoy. BTW, when you cross the border on 10 (assuming you are coming that way), stop and pick up a Sunpass at the visitors center. There are a lot of toll roads here, and the Sunpass can be activated by cell phone

Thanks so much! I didn't mention it before but we are bringing our nucanoe and plan on exploring those rivers as well as tubing in the springs at Wekiwa, I'm so looking forward to it!

We are from Splendora, TX, not that far from Katy. I wouldn't go to Florida in
September because it is to hot and humid then. We also don't RV much anywhere near SE Texas in the summer. As we got older we hate the Houston area summer and we go north, far north. I went to collage in Florida for four years and have spent a number of winters there with my parents, from November until mid April, in southern Florida. Hope you enjoy your trip.

Florida

Your trip sounds fun. I am leaving Atlanta on March 13 and taking 5 days to get to Key West. Once there, my wife will join me for 10 days and then I will stay for 3 more days and return to Atlanta.
