Will a cat fit ?
Seriously...I had an issue on my truck this year at work this spring. A momma Robin kept building a nest in my DS rear wheel well everyday.
Rig up some sort of cover that you can remove easily...something with Velcro ?

Had that issue 2 years ago in Florida. Went to WMart bought cheapest piece of screen I could buy ( even a patch kit may work)
Scissors, Gorilla tape and 15 minutes. DONE.

A small rubber snake. That may keep other unwanted critters away as well...

I cut up a pool noodle, each piece 1/4" longer than the inside dimension, and stacked it in the opening. Remove 1-2 pieces to access your umbilical cord, replace pieces in opening and they stay there while traveling. Good luck.

A scrap piece of blue foam insulation board. Light. Slightly flexible.

Another part was used to block off the laundry chute.

Had a robin that build a nest on the gutter down turn on our home every year. As above put a rubber snake on the window sill. Robin hasn’t been back.
