I used to clean & dry ours,,, and wrap the working end with food wrap !!!
Keep it in the bath room cabinet... Next to the towels !!!

Maybe the toilet wand is better & safer ???

Used mine every dump except when dumping into a "Blue Boy" tote for 6 seasons. Only leak was due to a torn hose washer at the outside connection.

Flush away. It beats the wand hands down.
