Blowouts!

In the two hour trip to Tampa and back home this afternoon we saw three or four travel trailers and fifth wheels with blown tires or having their tires changed. Tons of vehicles traveling north and south for spring. Break and the trip back north after wintering on the state, so I guess that is why we saw so many. We negotiated for name brand tires, not China tires. Our unit has been delivered to the dealer and we took a look at it today, but noticed they still have the China bombs on it. That will change before we drive it off the lot!

It was great because we got to take peak at the unit. We ordered it never having looked at this actual floorplan. We are so happy with it and it is just as we pictured! We had looked at similar floorplans of two other Forest River products, but we were not sure about the size of the bathroom and area around the toilet. We were not disappointed. It has been so hard to wait and knowing it is here is making us that more anxious to take possession.

To my knowledge, all ST tires are made in China, other than one brand made in Taiwan. [china] Good luck. All tires come with the place of manufacture stamped on the side wall. Look for it! Odds are, if you drive it off the lot, it WILL have Chinese built tires on it. Wish I were wrong.

If you are going to travel on China Bombs, let me suggest TWO or more spares and a jack. We had three [3] blowouts in 300 miles last December on Christmas eve. We now carry an on-board spare and a spare in the back of the TV.
Wish I knew how to post pix on this site, I would show you some that would scare the day lights out of you, not only of the tires, but the trailer damage.
Yes, we did have TPMS. It showed all tires with in specks till they exploded!

Sounds scary for sure. Do you have more details to share? Was it road hazard related, age of tires, brand? Looking for something common. Have you weighed your trailer and speed driving at might help. The more information will help others understand the need to change/check tires.

X2 on getting rid of the China Bombs!

B&B and I both have gone to Goodyear Marathons and went up a load class to boot (C->D) a Bonus to upping the load class is you go from 6 to 8 ply

I believe that Goodyear Marathon's are manufactured at the Gadsden, AL Goodyear plant.

(Our 5er is at the dealer's ATM and I cannot go check the tires to see if this info is correct.)

Blowouts!

Chances are your Goodyear ST tires are made in China. They moved ST production to China quite a while ago.

Only if they are several years old, like 6 or 7+.

Yep, the Marathon's I bought last Sept from DTD were made in China.
That said the LR D Marathons I installed were obviously made heavier than the LR C Trail Express tires I removed.
