Boondocking and battery

Hello All,

I'm sure this was covered somewhere, but I haven't found it yet. Sorry, but I'll just send it out again. Going away to Watkins glen races the end of this month. It will be the first time dry camping. I have a 3400/3100 inverter generator to run A/C and a couple lights when needed. I plan on running fridge off gas. Don't plan on using water heater. The water pump will get used from time to time. I only have one 12 v group 24 dual purpose battery. I did install a volt/amp meter the other year, which is handy. I'd invest in two deep cycle batteries if I was going to do this more often, but every trip scheduled over the next year has electric. So I'm just going to keep the current one.

Questions is when you All dry camp and use genny, do you let converter charge up battery or shut off converter and use a separate charger directly to the battery?

Thanks in dance and any other advice would be appreciated. Take care,

Mark

The converter (assuming all 3 modes work correctly) is more efficient and easier on your battery than any basic stand-alone charger. A PD converter will recharge a battery faster than a WFCO because it holds bulk mode for a longer period.

Keep in mind - recharging your battery from say 50% to 90% takes at least 3 hours with a good converter. And takes at least 3 more hours to charge from 90% to 100%.

PD converter because the stock WFCO did not meet its own specs
