That's my home territory. If you are into history the fort had been recreated on the hill above the campground. The actual fort was by the river marked by a stone foundation. Nearby is Whitehall, the home of Cassius Clay. The home of his cousin,Henry Clay, is nearby in Lexington. If you want a tour of a bourbon distiller check out Town Branch in Lexington. The Ky Horse Park, north of Lexington is well worth the visit and has a nice campground as well. Berea, Ky, south on I75, has the Ky Artisans Center and many Ky made products and crafts in the center of town. West of Lexington on Hwy 68 is Shaker Village, a 1800's restored community and one my of personal favorites.
