I would steer clear of the Grand Island KOA. EXTREMELY tight RV spaces, expensive, and gets swampy with lots of rain. Head to Canadian side...if not, I recommend Four Mile SP or Branches.

This is my hometown area, grew up half way between Buffalo and NF. The Branches is a very nice campground, I have never stayed there myself, but I do know peak rates were almost $100/night. The KOA is very nice, attached to Fantasy Island Amusement Park which is a great small park if you have younger children, but still offers some great rides for adults and teens. It also has a water park.

The US side gets a bad rap as everyone says stay on the Canadian side and only go to the Canadian side. I will admit you get a better overall view of the Falls from the Canadian side, but you also get a lot more tourist trap type stores and venues. On the American side you can get right next to the Falls, Goat Island and Three Sisters offer views of the upper rapids. Nice thing you do not have to deal with customs and planning on going over a holiday weekend, you will get bridge traffic.

Also, there is the Niagara Falls Aquarium which is a great little stop and admission can be included in the multi attraction ticket.

The KOA on Grand Island is very nice but pricey and it’s walking distance to a very well done children’s theme park. Highlights in the area besides the falls is the Buffalo Canal Walk, Fort Niagara, Lewiston downtown and river front, so much to do in the area. I’m an RV traveler, grew up in Western NY but now live south. One of the real highlights of Western NY is the variety of foods, the very best. If your going to Canada, passports are a must. Safe journeys!

Another "yes" vote for Branches. Very clean, friendly staff, lots of activities, two very nice pools, convenient to the Falls and Buffalo.

WiFi was a bit sketchy.

Grand Island KOA is good but pricey. don't buy a can of soda on the American side at the American store Mall/ restaurants it will cost you $2.87 a can.

Just remember if you go to the Canadian side you will need your passports, Unless your in a state that offers enhanced drivers licences.

Be sure to take your passports with you. You can't cross to Canada without them.
There is a great park at the whirlpools down stream. As mentioned above the NY Power Authority generating plant is awesome!

With a young family Branches of Niagara is wonderful. KOA would also be good. They are so close to each other I'd stay at Branches and visit Fantasy Island, attached to KOA for the day. Branches has numerous activities throughout the day and what we liked, it was pricey yes, but a lot of the games, events, etc were included in that price. The zip line is extra $. In close vicinity....Great wine trail, jetboat ride into the rapids, Maid of Mist....the list is long for activities to do in the area. Be sure to have correct documentation if going to Canada, and yes it does become a tourist trap over there.

4 Mile Creek!!! Absolutely!

We stayed at 4 Miles Creek this past May and it was terrific. Had a site right on the banks of The Lake and I even got some pics of Toronto from our site. Plan on taking in Fort Niagara; it's a fun half day thing.

We stayed at the Branches of Niagara a couple of years ago and it is a great park for camping. The campground is very close to everything on the American side of the falls. I looked at the KOA there and I thought it was extremely close to the interstate and you would hear road noise from the interstate if stating there plus the amusement park noise in the summer months. KOA's are my last resort for staying at a campground!

If I can get away from the any type of noise I will!

My RV is too large for state parks and we both like pull thru sites along with 50 AMP full hook-ups! So, I am will to pay a little more for a nice quiet camping site such as what you can have at the Branches campground.

Stayed at the Branches after touring the Canadian Maritimes with Fantasy RV Tours. We were pressed for time so signed up for a one-day professional tour that got us to all the important sites on both sides. Well worth the price at the campground which had a very friendly and helpful host. The tour seemed a bit pricey until we saw and did so much in a short time.
