Definitely get the extra 25' water hose and 30A extension cord. You can get a 4 way lug wrench that folds down. I got a small tool bag from Sears and carry some screwdrivers, pliers, strippers/crimpers, electrical tape, teflon tape, volt meter, zip ties, electrical terminal assortment, etc. You might consider hitting the Harbor Freight store in Sherman at the NE corner of 75 and 82. It's definitely not Craftsmen stuff, but most of these tools will be used rarely and see pretty basic service- and they have really good prices. You can probably pick up the bulk of what you need for a complete tool kit for ~$50. I know that sounds expensive, but if you are an hour from town camped out and need something at 10:00 at night, you'll wish you'd spent it!!!

I'll second the Progressive Industries electrical management system. I recommend the EMS-HW30C. It has a separate display that allows you to see if there is an issue. Here is a thread with more info:

Welcome to the RV life, you will tons of fun.

Get a Coil Retractable water hose (for potable water). Ours is 50 ft and retracts up to fit into a small plastic box. Ours came with life time warranty. Probably the best thing I ever bought for the trailer.

I have found not very many RV shops carry the Coil Retractable hose but very common in Marine stores.

We also carry an extra sewer hose. Here are some other things that make life a bit easier including the coil retractable water hose.

Thermacell for bugs with lots of replacement pads (easier than the load of citronella candles we originally traveled with & we carry bug spray but just hate to put it on)

Pad of paper & pen, we use a 6" level on the floor instead of attaching to the TT, refrigerator spring bars (& possibly for cabinets but I went to Walmart with my measurements needed in hand & bought plastic tubs to travel in cabinets for breakables), outdoor rug, water regulator & filter (we also have Brita pitcher for drinking), DH loves his cordless drill ....

After almost 2 years we are still buying items here & there & this site definitely contributes to my shopping with all the great suggestions ....

Wow...what a loaded question! I would definitely recommend a water regulator and a surge protector. You will find the length hoses you mentioned work at most campsites. However I would recommend a 45' clear elbow and a 25' collapsible sewage hose. You may also want a white clean hose and an off color "dirty" hose. I suggest the collapsible hoses as seen on TV. Dont forget to use the septic tablets as soon as you arrive and close the lid and turn off the fan before flushing! An outdoor mat for under your awning and a broom. I suggest having some duct tape and some misc told (wtench, hammer, screwdrivers) handy just in case, a first aid kit and noah meds (asprin, bug bite, pepto, bandaids), and a small step stool. Those are a few things I find are life savers. Have fun!

A friendly smile and a handshake. As you can see here, your camping neighbors will love to show you what they have and experiences they've done.

If your unit is a tandem you do not need a jack to change a tire....Just run the "good" tire up on some boards to raise the flat tire up off the ground (or plastic levelers 10 in a bag----you should also add these to your want list) to change it......

Get some checklists together and add to them as you go. I used Good Sams to start out and customized as we go along. Stick with them too, always check out, you;ll be surprised at things you miss even after traveling for years.

Well, I got my own UPS truck coming with an Amazon delivery tomorrow, and what it doesn't bring the mail or FedEx will deliver by Thursday. Thanks for all the good input.

Checklists are printed.

My TV came with a strap that secures it when traveling. Be sure to get one with a plastic connector or one with velcro.

Power and water

I always carry 50' of each and extra sewer hoses with couplers. I did switch to Rhino hoses, personal preference. I like the way they connect and look. I ask have extra plug adapters, 30 to 15 and 15 to 30.
