Did you push the button to turn on the booster amp first?

Should be on the wall plate for the main coax outlet. A small light should come on when it's pushed. It's a very small button. Sometimes there is also and 12 cigarette lighter type outlet on the same wall plate. Turn on for antenna and turn off when connected to cable tv. Once it's turned on, try the channel scan again. Let us know if you get it to work.

May look like this.
