this is exactly why I place a lock on the 5th wheel pin or the coupler lock on the ball of any trailer I am dropping off especially if it is outside a gate. the key for the coupler lock or pin lock is on the key ring I leave with the dealership. that way I am a bit more inclined to thing if it is moved it was done by staff.

the decal although on the trailer in the photo will be long gone if it has in fact been stolen.

repair facilities like CW generally have a disclaimer regarding items left and their not being liable for damages or thefts occurring. its another reason our trailers have always been insured to the max.

I haven't read past the first page of the article but I do hope you get it back - in better condition than it was left... meaning some one swept it out and shined the tires for you.

Could have been the new 2019 Duramax that was not connected to the tank and had real crap in storage and even electric connectors...

Turned out, several months later, the manufacturer found it on their lot. Someone moved it.

I'd suggest your friend walk the entire CW lot. I wouldn't be surprised if it "got moved."

I could be wrong but I think the one you are thinking about is where they took a camper back to the manufacturer and they couldn't find it thinking it was stolen off the lot ot a transporter took the wrong trailer, it was discovered that the dealership mixed up two campers and gave the wrong campers to the wrong owners, the guy had one VIN# licensed and insured but was in possession of a totally different camper.

The manufacturer found the error when they did an inventory of the campers on their lot, they didn't have the VIN# in their inventory.

When we bought ours we looked at one where someone took a dump (#2) in the camper while it was on the dealer lot, some people are just gross. The sales guy we were with said they see that all the time, somebody using the facilities and no water to flush it down. we also looked at some used units, when we asked why they were so dirty we were told they don't touch them until they are sold, then they will clean them.

Our dealer tapes the toilets closed and puts a "Winterized, do not use" sign on them. Dealer said it wasn't really for deterrent and more so that if they ever see the tape broken they know somebody's used it and they can then clean it out.

Camping World in general is awful. However, there are two of their locations that are actually very good. Myrtle Beach, even with this current issue, is very good.
Colfax, near Greensboro, NC is also a highly rated location.
Other than those two I will not enter their property.
