Campfire Smoke

Here's a question to ponder. If you camp a lot or are a full-timer, do you worry that over time, campfire smoke will give you lung cancer?

According to experts, either everything causes cancer, and/or they change their minds yearly on what is good and bad for you.
I just ignore them all and do everything I enjoy in moderation...........

After I let my wood soak in used engine oil overnight I don't go near the fire for a few minutes until it's good and hot.

You would have to ingest a huge amount of smoke nearly continuously for a long time I believe. Wild land firefighters on average intake more on a long duration wildfire than most people around a campfire could in a lifetime. That said, stay upwind from the guy soaking his in oil-at least for the first while

I would worry more about the formaldehyde fumes from all the materials inside the RV than from a campfire.

I'm the person who sits in the chair in the campfire circle away from the smoke direction only to have the smoke follow me once I get comfortable.

Don't burn old green Pressure Treated wood, contains arsenic. Anything else is fair game.

I've been enjoying campfires for over 70 years and no lung cancer.

I worry more about the carcinogens floating in the air on our highway, coming and going to campgrounds.

Worry less, enjoy more.

Don't know, don't care. I quit a 3 pack a day habit 10 years ago, and that's far more likely to generate lung cancer in me than an occasional whiff of campfire smoke.

Beside, campfire smoke is my girlfriend's favorite cologne. >wink< >wink< >nudge< >nudge< Knowwhutimean?

I’m surprised campgrounds haven’t been forced to post Prop 65 signs at every fire pit.
