Don't like the price then don't stay there. If enough people do that they'll either adjust their prices or go out of business.

Robbery is only when you are surprised and don't have a choice. You can't rob a man that consents to it.

Exorbitant, maybe. Robbery, not a chance.

Passport America is awesome! Also, don't miss out on Corps of engineers and other federal lands campgrounds. Recreation.gov will open your eyes to amazing campgrounds with super low prices. With our National Parks senior (lifetime) pass we've stayed at waterfront, spacious and shaded sites for $10/night!

Is there a list of camping areas for Passport America? I know that it says National Forest and BLM property, but do you just pull off the road and camp? I am new to this and would like to get away from the CG and explore. I don't know if campfires are allowed and what all is needed.

PA is a discount club. Check it out here:
http://www.passportamerica.com
Still learning all of what the pass gets us. "America the Beautiful" is the official name of the pass. Need to be 62 or better. I think the price went up recently. I got ours when it was still $20.

Passport America is for private parks, NOT for NFS or BLM camping.
Have you gone to their website? All their participating RV parks are grouped by state.

If someone will pay $400 then the campground was reasonable to ask for $400. If no one will pay it, then the campground is being foolish.

Economics 101.

I am still stunned that free market economics still have to be explained to anyone.

It is a voluntary transaction. For both parties. No force, no coercion, no fraud means no “robbery”.
