We're doing the Driveway Getaway this weekend. We have too much to do around the house to go anywhere so it's the next best thing. The price is right for the weekend.
Total cost is whatever electric we use.

It only counts if you don't go in the house for stuff
while you're driveway camping!

We actually have camping weekends where on one the DW's friends (abt 12) come with trailers and setup for the weekend, also have 2 or 3 family weekend where the whole family and inlaws bring tents trailers etc and we camp out for the weekend. We have a heated above ground pool so it is like a camp ground and on saturday nights we do a walkin theatre out back with a 12' screen and about 1000 watts of sound for giggles (it has to be an action movie though) also have a fireworks display on one of the weekends that 2 of our boys put on for the crowd. And that is the advantage of your closest neighbor being a mile and a half away.

First off, camping credit? Really, like does it matter? Are you trying to keep up with folks here or anyone else for total nights camped and if so what do you win?

If you enjoy doing that then go for it...camp at home and if you live in a RV restricted community I think it would be fun to annoy HOA police by setting up your camper in the driveway lol. ( I am the president of an hoa where one of my vacation rentals are located).

On the last Friday of the school year we set up camp in the field at our place to celebrate the start of summer vacation. Kids love it and it is free. Maybe we move the big screen down there and do a camp in movie under the stars. I like that idea.

camping credits ??

After noticing other people that have shown how many days they have camped on this site .it made me wonder if those that wanted to tryout their new equipment, It maybe an excellent chance for practice.... Except for the towing part... Where i live ...On the St, Clair river , Its more common to see boats, rvs, etc .... than not....parked in driveways or on the property .. Its nice having your Rv right outside !!!

Dretired,
I use to have a rule where I would never camp anywhere less than an hour away from home. I didn't want the temptation to run home for stuff or if the weather got bad for a few hours...lol now, there are so many nice places to camp that are an hour or less away since moving to the mountains, that the rule is meant to be broken. This includes our own backyard which fronts a nice size mountain stream.

In good times we camp maybe 30 nights a year and when the economy is soft, it is less and given gas prices too..it could a lot less. Some folks here are retired or have careers that allow for many more nights than others....don't feel bad if you can't get out as much as the next guy... heck, my son and I went camping on Lake Chatuge last weekend. We slept in the cabin of our boat. We had a waterfront campsite lol....

camping credits

smokyroo, The wife had suggested... she would like to travel a little last fall... I wanted to go south for the winter .. so .. we end up with a new F 150 truck and a slightly used puma 26rlss TT.. Then .. a couple months go by.. gas prices climbing...WE had bigger travel plans at first... now its wait and see ...but for now we are fortunate enough to have a campground on lake huron that is 40 miles away...
