We dodged the ice here. Mainly sleet, now snow. I'm guessing 2" of sleet and at least 1", maybe 2" of snow. We're having wind gust up to 40 mph so it's hard to tell. It's suppose to keep snowing until late this afternoon, so we'll see what we end up with.
Some parts of Tulsa (approx 80 miles north of where I live) have 10" or more of snow already.

Charlie, good luck to you. around here the limbs and power lines start breaking with ¼" of ice. ½" of ice and there are quite a few power outages.

Here's a couple of pics taken at about 8 am. I took these pretty quick since it's 16° with wind chills below 0!

Lou, please send pics!!!!

Mother Nature can sure be finicky at times. Looks like it's going to be a long unpredictable winter.

Thanks Lou. Good to see it's not miserable everywhere. If you can send some of that warm weather up the coast we'd all appreciate it!

Have a few more.

We a are at Patrick AFB today. while it could hit 80, the Famcamp is right next to the firing range. Poor Bella is having fits and the Airborne Command Post 747 is parked on the ramp right next to the campground. He has had one engine and their APU running since we got here. Oh, well what do you expect for 10 bucks a night. We leave on Thursday for Miami. 106 bucks for one night at the Everglades campground. Then Sigsbee Key in Key West. Film at eleven...

Gary, I guess this means that we can't expect you to get your fan out next time it turns warm there.

Good luck with things there......it looks wicked.

I'll still share.

When I took the pics I posted I was thinking we had 3"-4", but it was hard to tell with the wind blowing the snow around. Just heard on the news we officially received 10" total, at least 2" of that was sleet!

The sun has peaked out a few times but with the temp staying at 17° or below, it's not melting anything. Work and schools have been officially closed again for tomorrow.

Parts of I-40 (in eastern Okla), I-44 (turnpike between OKC and Joplin, Mo.) and the Muskogee Turnpike (between Muskogee and Tulsa) have been shut down due to the road conditions and stranded motorist.

Tulsa beat their 24 hour snowfall record of 12" with a 13.2" snowfall. It also surpassed their average snowfall for the month of Feb!!!!!

Everybody stay safe and warm!

P.S. Remember Lou. The worst day camping........

Lou, i don't know how long you will be down there but there might be enough snow left here to clean your truck and camper off as you head back to PA.
Just now on the local new was talking about the massive storm they say it covers 2,000 miles.
They are calling for another storm here Friday night and then another oneTuesday.Temp tomorrow will be around 45 North of Baltimore and 55-60 on the Eastern shore but then drop tomorrow night.
Enjoy your trip and the warm weather.

I'm about 100 miles east of OKC and 8 miles south of I-40. As I posted above they officially said we received a total of 10".

Just showed on the news that OKC has had 10", Tulsa has 14" and north and east of Tulsa, 20" and 21". Wind gust are still in the 35-40 mph range.

We're not use to this around here, but I am sooooo happy we didn't get the freezing rain and ice they thought we would!

Looks like I mistakenly posted wrong sleet/snow accumulations in my above post. Those were measurements some local people took. Here are the official NWS measurements according to the local weatherman on the CBS affiliate out of Tulsa;
OKC - 8”
Catoosa - 20”
Vinita - 21”
Eufaula - 6”
Tulsa - 14”

Tulsa also set a few records;
Most snowfall in Feb.
Most snowfall in one event.
Most snowfall in a 24 hour period.
More snowfall in one day than the yearly average.

The roads I mentioned are still closed, but part of I-44 between OKC and Tulsa has opened (Turner Turnpike) but it‘s still closed between Tulsa and Joplin. So if you had plans to travel in this area, you may want to delay them a couple of days. These are interstates and turnpikes so you can imagine what the side roads are like.

The forecasted actual temps are brutal! A high of 10° for Tulsa tomorrow, which would be a record low for a high temp. Thursday morning low, -7°, which would be a record low.

Sorry about the misinformation. I guess I should pay closer attention.

I guess it's not just us. Here they reported Kansas, Missouri, Illinois & Indianna have been hit pretty hard as well. Chicago has declared a snow day for the first time in 12 years!

We're not use to a storm of this size and we don't have the equipment to handle it. They're having a hard time clearing the major roadways (turnpikes and interstates) of stranded semis and cars. Until they do that, they can't clear the snow off the roads. They have called out Oklahoma's National Guard to help. With some of their vehicles they are able to pull out some of the semis. Looks like it will be a few days before travel becomes safe.

Forecasted temps don't look very good. It will be Saturday before we get above freezing. The wind is still gusting pretty good, so wind chills are still below 0° making it hard to get out and clear snow from our driveways and sidewalks.

Stay safe and warm!

Gary, it is 65 here right now. I am going to return the favor that you did us last week by blowing all of your warm air here. I have the fans turned on high and aimed your way.......hope I don't regret this.

Chap I hope it works! Just be sure to set it back down on medium. Look what happened when I put it on high!

It's 13° right now. We reached 18°. It will dip to single digits tonight with a possibility of reaching below 0°.
After finaly getting above freezing by Saturday the forecast calls for more cold temps with a small chance of snow Monday. I'm going to have to look over those snow blowers you guys posted. If this keeps up I may need to buy one.

I would probably have to buy it online, I don't remember seeing any in the stores down here!

Gary, Lowe's here in our area sold over 600 snow blowers before Christmas and all they have out now are lawn mowers.

It sound like you need a snow blower with heated handles.....sorry i just had to say it.

We got luck, the ice storm stayed closer to PA, and we are just 11 miles away. We had less then a 1/4 inch and the temps were headed up all night. When i got up a 2:30 am this morning for work the car was covered with ice but it was thin, as i headed to VA it was all rain........Gary ,if it warms up enough this weekend you might be able to re-wash your camper again.
