I will camp on holidays if I have the time off work, but I will be selective about the destination. As for commercial campgrounds I usually only stay at those overnight while traveling to a further destination (except for one in San Diego we go to every couple of years). Otherwise, the state parks, national parks and other popular destinations are too busy for us on a holiday weekend, we usually try to find a place to boondock in our own region.

Similar to Stevea1956, our family tries to get together every year, they all like to rent a cabin somewhere and all bunk up in there... I hate that.... so we always take our trailer and stay somewhere near. We have our trailer to keep our sanity. They are all very religious and we like beer and other beverages, so we escape the madness and find our own little corner of reality for some peaceful getaway.

I think holidays are busy no matter where you go.
Unfortunately, for people with limited time off of work, holidays are usually the only chances they/we have to get-away.
Is being in a busy airport/campground/highway better than being at work?
Guess that depends on how much you enjoy your job. ;p

Major holidays almost always guarantee a day off from work, meaning a longer weekend. I would rather camp in a "less than ideal" environment, than work anytime...

Holiday, No Holiday when ever we can. Being as we are still working we can only go on weekends, holidays and when we take vacation days. Also being in New York it kind of cuts your season short. We can usually get if lucky some in March and go until December 1.

We go to various CG in the area anytime. But always meet Memorial weekend with family from out if state. We actually make plans and reserve sites on Christmas Day. Great kick off to the summer!

I have to say that me and my brother love to get to the CG a few days early on a holiday weekend and watch people pulling in and setting up. Sometimes it is a real hoot, other times we offer to help if we see it is warranted. Either way it is all good!

We camp on holidays as it gives us that extra day. We have TTN so the crowds are no different than any other weekend and do not have the drunks that others have experienced.

We camp on holidays but are selective as to where we go as some others are. In fact, my wife and I met while our families were camping at the same campground on the 4th of July weekend many years ago (my parents had a seasonal site and DW's aunt and uncle had a seasonal site). We still go to that same campground every year for the 4th holiday.
