Camping toys 2012

Does anyone have anyone have a camping toy or must have for 2012?

Last year we purchased a rocket stove from Stove Tec. Its great for cooking and providing a little heat in the evening!

We probably do different sorts of camping than a lot of you guys...

I did pick up a Streamlight Stinger flashlight that I absolutely love. Well, I loved it so much I bought 2 more. Love that its rechargable in the trailer, or the truck.

I bought one of these and tried it out several times over the winter. If you are cooking for a crowd, it is hard to beat. Easy prep, cooks fast, tastes great and clean up is easy:

I finally gave up on the hassle of starting a campfire with paper and kindling.
I admitted defeat and finally bought some of those sawdust and wax fire starters. They work great. I just start one on fire and throw some small wood on top.
Give it about 10 minutes and then put some "big wood" on.

If you want to make similar fire starter here is what you need. Canning jars (old pickle jar) a bag of pine bedding from the pet store and a bottle of Lighter fluid. Full the canning jars with the pine bedding and coat the bedding with the lighter fluid. You don't fill the jar with lighter fluid, use just enough to coat all of the pine bedding in the jar. Then put the top on. When you use it put small wood down, half a jar of fire starter and some more small wood...... Instant fire every time. We do a lot of beach camping and Bon fires on the beach and this is our trick. For $10 you'll have enough for one season and maybe more.

One of the neatest $12 gadgets I found was a kitchen plastic bag holder that folds up into a package about the size of textbook.

Its great because it has a clamp to hold the bag in the lid.

Here's my latest camping toy, purchased for $99.00 at the Chilliwack, BC RV show last weekend. Gotta beat those campfire bans somehow !! Ban Buster
