Well I knew mad don’t blame them. We try to tell people not to pet our dog he has a sign on his leash that says do not pet. People see animals and they just think they can come up and pet them

Lol, if we’re camping next to you sometime don’t worry about me getting in your dogs face, I don’t mind them licking my hand but the face is off limits. . Our neighbors camping this past week actually asked if it was ok for our son (almost 2yrs old) to come over and get to know their dog that way neither of them would be scared of the other if either was running around. It was pretty thoughtful I thought of them.

I would think those signs INCREASE their liability because they are essentially acknowledging they have brought a dangerous dog into a public space. If the dog got loose and bit someone, a photo like that would probably show up in court for the plaintiff.

You would think the camp ground would have something to say!

Actually the sign has no bearing on amount of liability for the owner. If your dog is not under your direct control and bites someone you are at fault. The beware of dog sign is very much like the wet floor sign or caution stairs sign if you proceed you are assuming a portion of the risk.

If the camping space was paid for it's no longer "a public space". If the dog leaves the camping space then it's public.

You can tell that to the neighbor's kids that keep running across my (paid for) site!
I don't think I'd want to rely on that position in front of a judge.

True, but...
Unless it’s a working dog, why would you want a dog that doesn’t like to be petted? (I totally get that some breeds are not good with little ones though.)

But why would you allow your child to pet just any dog. This is how attacks happen and then the dog gets blamed. Teach your children not to go near unfamiliar dogs without owner permission.

Or for that matter any dog that is not your family pet. Not all dogs are friendly.

(Sorry)

I saw that once and the dog actually caught its tail...and promptly fell over like a Laugh In tricycle.

I can read but a two year old can get away fast. If you have a dog that bites leave the dog home
