Camping World Name Change ???

Just curious and kind of slow here..........

The Camping World in Roanoke VA has changed its name to Gander RV Sales and Outdoor Gear................. Any Others ???? I thought Gander Outdoors was owned by the same group ?? I guess that it is still a Camping World though, but the name has changed.

Maybe it is because a Gander Mountain Sports was across the street ??

Any Thoughts ??? It is a slow news day.

I didn't know the two were related. The gander mountains in my area all closed and filed bankruptcy and then reopened with the name gander outdoors but they don't sell rv's or camping stuff other then tents etc.

Yea just found it........ I'm slow

Camping World plans to open 40 Gander RV Sales stores in ‘key RV markets.’

Last year, in a move that raised industry eyebrows, Illinois-based RV-outfitter Camping World acquired the belly-up outdoors retailer Gander Mountain at a bankruptcy auction. The immediate ramifications weren’t clear, though many speculated the acquisition would add more general outdoors and sporting clout to Camping World’s portfolio.

But last week, the brand announced it would leverage the Gander brand to increase its RV footprint. It’s honing in on areas “where Camping World is underpenetrated and has tremendous opportunity to grow its RV market.”

I saw a AD on TV that the local Camping World is now Gander RV started this

When your name turns to poop you just buy a bankrupt company and use their name.

Makes one wonder if there is any intelligent life at Camping World. Haven't found much in their stores yet.

I think that is an oxymoron.

Camping World is building a brand new store here in Wichita, KS with a brand new Gander Outdoor right next to it both adjacent to an old sand pit water hole. I'm by no means a CW fan, but hopefully it will put an end to the Wichita area RV dealers "our price or the hi-way" attitude.

No joke. I saw a bottom rated trucking co. do just that.

I get fed up with all the dumping on Camping World.

Everybody talks about:
1. Their sales are so bad...do they make promises of high quality? Refer back to this forum and garbage trailers that are produced by FR and others in the industry....not Camping World

2. High prices.....any of the items I've shopped for and price checked on the other competitor "Big-bad Corporation" Amazon, they're pretty close in price....way less than the Mom & Pop RV dealers in my area.

3. Service department....we get jaded on this forum all the time about how "bad" the service was. Anyone who has dealt with a ***** service department knows it. After 3 visits and 5 service managers DREAMCHASER'S RV in BURLINGRON, WA is a crooked business and should not be servicing RV's....or kids bicycles for that matter. They are incompetent and can't complete simple tasks let alone complex, detail oriented repairs.

I really do think Canping World gets a bad wrap for no other reasons than the letters on their sign.

My last point is that if a "failing" business buys out a good name, have you stopped shopping at Bass Pro Shops....didn't they buy out Cabelas?

Budweiser is not American....they're owned by a Belgian company.

And, I drive a Ford....shouldn't GM owner's be thankful for my tax dollars bailing that company out? Does the "G" stand for "General" or "Government"? My government mandated "tax investement" isn't showing much of a return...

How many that have replied to this thread have actually had bad service (be fair) with Camping World?

Fair questions...

I new the people at a local Camping World, C/W brought out a local RV dealership. I use to take my Cedar Creek there but after C/W said they didn’t want my business I haven’t been back. I can find everything C/W sells on the web normally cheaper.

Agree!! I bought 2 trailers from camping world and had a great experience both times. I think a lot of the bashing’s is from hear say that got twisted to sound better. And some bashing’s sounds like it comes from that type of person who think there **** don’t stink, and demand attention. And when they didn’t get it, they bashed away

Personally I have not any problem with CW other than their website going down for about a week. Although I am a brand new Forest River owner, I was a Fleetwood RV'r back in the 80's when my children were small.
In those days, going to a Camping World store was a "destination", a dream toy land for RV's. No Amazon, internet, google and online shopping with 2 day delivery like it is now.
I now compare CW with Amazon and shop accordingly.

My thought as well. Hoping they have learned from the mistakes made at Camping World with customer service. If they rebuild the brand and make customer service advances it may work out the Camping World name could go away in time.
